Hey guys, I got one of Jason C's brakes and screwed it on my new 6.5 Creedmoor. The brake came with a precision shim kit so that you don't have to have a gunsmith time it for you, you can do it yourself. As long as your barrel's already threaded you can just screw it on with the appropriate shim in place and you're ready to rock.

This thing is amazing. For the first time in my life I am actually able to pull the trigger and my crosshairs don't move off the target. It is awesome to be able to just pull the trigger and watch the hit. Before trying this brake I'd have to pull the trigger, get shook a little by recoil, and then try to find the target in time to see the hit or splash. Now it's just pull the trigger, relax and watch the show right there in the middle of your scope where it's supposed to be!
See, I didn't need to work on my fundamentals... I just needed a JEC brake!:) Thank you Jason!

I'd highly recommend you consider one of his brakes. He's spent 4 years developing it and he can explain the physics behind every baffle angle, etc. on the brake...all I can tell you is the damn thing works incredible....it is amazing!

Check out the wrench flats on the front...

Those three holes have to do something magical...:)

Silver ring is the shim kit...

Jasons brake's are well worth every penny.

I picked up one before the match, it works so much better than my old brake. Everyone should have one.

Where does one purchase one of these brakes?

cost?

I like the design and shim system, looks great for someone wanting to run a can from time to time, alot better looking than the RAD and FTE

sounds about just what i need for my 308 barrel

Bates, I am sending a logo to Jonathan in a little while. I will post pics and cost in the commercial section later today. Cost will be $109 plus shipping for black and stainless. These aren't designed for looks but rather recoil reduction.

Jason, what is the best way to get a hold of you if someone wanted to purchase this bad arse brake?

Nice brake, thanks for posting the pics.

What's the diameter?

Will the wrench flats be vertical on the front or horizontal on the rear portion?

Can these be turned down to match the barrel profile or do you not recommend it?

Thanks.

Lucks has the new/current design. I've had this one for a little while. While I am having the barrel spun up, I went ahead and had the brake timed as well since I don't plan on running my suppressor on my comp gun.

Jason - Between your brake and that Obermeyer barrel, I can't wait to get it back.

They can be turned down, but will be less effective.

The OAL is 2.155"
The Diameter is 1.0"
The brake can be turned down but it will reduce the effectiveness a small amount.
I currently have them in:
5.56
6
6.5
7
.308

5/8x24 thread
1/2x28 thread

Next week I will have a 7/8" version with a tapered back for use on an ar15 style barrel.

Yup, they can be turned down to fit your barrel and while you might loose a bit of effectiveness, it's still very effective.

I received one of these yesterday and mounted it in 30 minutes on my Surgeon 260. Even the slightest improvement in recovery after the shot will be a plus.

I will put a couple 100 rounds through it this weekend, and report back. I generally stay away from brakes except for a suppressor mount.

The design looks similar to others with the exception of the magic holes along the top :)The shim kit is the best I've seen.

Make note, NO rocksett is included. I pilfered some from an AAC kit I haven't used.

John, I don't recommend rocksett . One very small drop of blue loctite works better and I usually don't use any at all if I'm not leaving the brake on long term.

Thanks for the recommendation.

Rocksett comes off super easy if you soak it in warm soapy water.
So it is not a problem for me to change out.

I don't have any blue locktite anyway smile Maybe next time.

Edit for range report: I really like this brake! When positional shooting it is noticeably easier to follow my shots with the JEC.

I had Jason send me one about 6-8 months ago. My inital impression was that it did indeed work but I was not sure just how much. But I had not shot with it all that much so I decided to keep it on the gun and run it in a few matches to see if the added noise was worth it.

Well fast forward to a few weeks ago. My barrel was getting considerably slower and it was time to send my gun off to get a new one spun up. I wanted to do a bit of a self test to see if I wanted to have the muzzle threaded or not. As I had now shot several matches and over a thousand rounds with the break on the rifle.

I went to the range and shot 65 rounds with the break on (once I put it on I had never taken it off). Then I spun the break off and loaded up a 5 round mag. It was a significant difference in recoil. The gun was recoiling much more vertically than before and I could easily see the sight picture climbing much higher on the target than with the break installed. It makes spotting impacts much easier.

Now this is very unscientific measurement but I would say it is a 35% - 50% reduction in felt recoil. I ordered a second one for my 7SAUM hunting rig and shooting the 180 Berger VLD's at just under 3000fps it feels like a mild .308Win load.

They work as advertised and I would highly recommend picking one up.

I have a 308 brake sitting around I need to screw it on the 7 WSM and see the results. That would be awesome if it had the same recoil as a 308 because its pretty stout right now!

Your going to have an additional .024" more clearance than a standard 7 JEC brake. I don't know how much a difference that will make.

You won't notice much difference.
And the specs are
.223= .242
6mm=.262
6.5mm=.282
7mm=.297
.308=.327

These are the specs I use
